Bon Voyage to Palm Royale and Back to the 70’s

Posted on by

Our unique challenge was to help pull off a weekend of parties for a private Orange County yacht club on Catalina Island. The only way to travel to the island and transport our equipment was by boat, as there were no roads leading to the beautiful and remote location. So we loaded up the gear and experienced an enjoyable boatride to Catalina Island. And it was remote indeed. We camped in tents on the shore and were lulled to sleep by the gentle waves on the sand.

The theme of the weekend was based on the cable series “Palm Royale”, so the fashion, decor, and music were all very much 1970’s inspired.

Vows and Wows on the Queen Mary

Posted on by

DJ Brett Live has performed in many unique and interesting locations. Recently, it was on the Queen Mary, an opulent luxury liner known for elegance and sophistication, spanning many decades back to the 1930’s. DJ Brett was invited to bring music and excitement to a wedding reception to be held in the First Class Lounge, the Queen’s grand ballroom.

The load-in provided a behind-the-scenes tour of the venue and the ship. Like most locations, behind the scenes is a bit more operational and gritty than the more elegant and polished front-of-house.

The main ballroom is a beautiful space with high ceilings, elegant lighting, and gold accents. A fitting setting for a 1930’s inspired wedding reception. It seemed as though we had gone back in time.

Many of the guests dressed in period attire, complementing the early century theme. Cake cutting and other ceremonial moments were followed by live entertainment performed by a friend of the bride. DJ Brett Live motivated the guests onto the dance floor for an evening of great music, dancing, and celebration.

A wonderful evening on the beautiful Queen Mary.

Dancing in LA

DJ Brett flew from Salt Lake City down to Los Angeles for a command performance as entertainment for a high school winter formal.  From the moment Brett threw out the first note, it didn’t take long for the crowd to get onto the dance floor and stay there until well after the last note was played.  The fun really began when DJ Brett jumped down on the dance floor and challenged the guests to keep up with his dancing.  A fun night for all!DJ Brett Table

Party Till The Cows Come Home

Posted on by

Nothing like having a western party in a milking barn.  Our bovine friends were polite, quiet, did not eat too much and had a very positive attitude as long as they got their turn on the milking machine.Lewis Events was proud to be part of a company party held in the Millenial Barn located at the Orange County Fairgrounds.  It’s an ideal location for a western theme party, offering a perfect country atmosphere . . . . cows included.

The guests enjoyed a variety of interesting activities including gold panning, cowboy games, line dancing, great food and lively music.

Right in the middle of the party festivities, the cows filed in and in an orderly fashion, took their place at the milking machine.  It wasn’t long before the guests took notice and crowded to see the milking take place.  I must admit this was an interesting first for Lewis Events and definitely added another dimension to the event.

Emily came away from the experience with some new friends.

Black Friday DJ’s

Posted on by

Black Friday is a big deal.  It comes with masses of shoppers and sales galore.  So how do you keep the crowds happy while they wait in line for all those fabulous deals? With really good music and really fun games of course! For the second year in a row, one of our agents made the call to Lewis Events to perform as DJ’s and bring activities to a large outdoor Orange County mall.  So, after a scrumptious Thanksgiving dinner we headed down the road and began the fun    . . . . . . at 12am.In the very middle of all of the crowds and excitement, we set up the sound system and played minute-to-win-it style games while the guests waited in line and strolled between deals.  Brett and Melinda acted as DJ’s and played a variety of amazing music to keep everyone awake.
Three hours can go by pretty quickly when you’re having a great time.We played music and games till just after 3am when the crowds started to thin a bit.  It took about 45 minutes to strike the gear and load the truck. Then what?  The stores are still open, black Friday sales abound and the crowds have subsided significantly.  So starting at 4am we spent an hour at the ice skating rink and on the giant ferris wheel. Then Black Friday shopping till 8:30 (we found some amazing deals). Then it was on with a new day.
